When to hold the 2020 Cheadle Arts Festival

The big question at last night's 2020 planning meeting was which month to hold the festival. We held it in March in 2019, and yet again the weather was against us and we had reports that some folk didn't feel like stepping outdoors. So what are the alternatives?  We discussed this question, and here is a precis of our thoughts.

March. Good because there isn't much happening and it brings people into town, but not good because it we have suffered from snow, bitter winds and lashing rain and people don't want to come into town.

April. The retailers said they are busy with Easter and Mothers Day so we ruled that out.

May. Leek Arts Festival is in May and we don't want to clash with that excellent programme so we ruled that out.

June. Good because it is summer and because it fits neatly in between the May Leek Arts and the July Biddulph Arts. There is also the consideration that CATS will be able to get involved and include an event as part of the programme. Less good because there are so many things on offer and is exam season.

July - Biddulph Arts Festival is in July and we don't want to clash with that excellent programme so we ruled that out.

August - holiday season, so we ruled that out.

September - too difficult for schools to get involved and hard for local groups to organise their work during holiday season, so we ruled that out.

So that leaves the option that we would like to present for consultation as March or June. Please complete our survey to help shape this event.
